A pair of Amphipsalta cingulata mating. The female is on the left. The male is the only one that sings the female makes a clicking sound with her wings. I don't know if it was coincidence or not but a tree that had one female clicking usually had several and the overlapping trees also had several females clicking away, whereas the bulk of the trees seemed to have only males singing. I wondered if the females congregated to make it easier for the males to find them ?

The last four photos are of a very obliging Cicada, the sun hadn't warmed up where it was sitting so it hadn't warmed up enough to fly away. The pictures show clearly the three jewel like ocelli, simple eyes, situated on the forehead, as well as the two compound eyes.
